Evelyn Lozada And Chad Johnson Finalize Divorce

After a few intentional delays, Evelyn Lozada and Chad Johnson are officially divorced.

Earlier today, a Florida judge granted Chad and Evelyn’s request for a divorce, and Evelyn’s lawyer, Michael Gildenreleased a statement following the decision, saying:

“Evelyn and Mr. Johnson were divorced this morning in an uncontested final hearing.

“My client is a single woman and looks forward to her future.”

The former couple was married on July 4 in a lavish wedding ceremony that was filmed for an upcoming VH1 reality series “Ev and Ocho,” which has since been pulled from airing. But 41 days into the marriage, things turned sour when Evelyn accused Chad of head-butting her after an argument.

Chad was arrested and released (not only from jail but also the Miami Dolphins), but was formally chargedwith misdemeanor battery last week.

Evelyn filed for divorce shortly after the incident, but up until last week when he filed his own papers, Chad refused to sign the documents to dissolve the marriage, reportedly hoping to reconcile with his estranged wife. Clearly, that didn’t happen.

Over the weekend, Evelyn appeared on Oprah’s OWN network on the season premiere of “Iyanla: Fix My Life.” The two-part episode earned the network its highest ratings to date, and showed Evelyn speaking withIyanla Vanzant about her failed marriage, the domestic violence incident, and her past behavior.

Evelyn Lozada Releases Statement On Domestic Violence Incident With Chad Johnson

After remaining silent since her very public domestic dispute with new husband Chad JohnsonEvelyn Lozada has released a statement on the incident.

In the statement, Evelyn says she is disappointed in Chad’s actions since the altercation and thanked fans and family for their support.

“It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday. I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles.

“Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.”

Chad was arrested and charged with simple domestic battery for allegedly head-butting Evelyn after the two got into an argument. For his actions and involvement, he was released from NFL team the Miami Dolphins.

But the fallout has continued, as VH1 made the decision yesterday to pull the couple’s upcoming reality show “Ev and Ocho” from the network’s fall lineup. The series was centered around their July 4 nuptials but VH1 now says it has no plans to air the show in the future.

Also, condolences to Evelyn, whose brother-in-law Anthony Ochoa passed away yesterday after his long battle with cancer. Evelyn addressed his death yesterday, saying, “Anthony was an amazing husband, father, and brother-in-law. He will be dearly missed.”

Stoudemire’s Fiancée Describes Romantic Proposal

All eyes are on soon-to-be basketball wife, Alexis Welch, who will be tying the knot with NY Knick Amar’e Stoudemire.

Although the couple already has a family (three kids), and have been together for at least 10 years, Welch is finally letting people in on who she is.

The pair met when they were both 19 years old, right after he was drafted to the Phoenix Suns. Alexis was a star athlete who was just excited to meet a man who was much taller than her 5’10: stature in heels.

They met in a private room, where underage folks were forced to hang, at a Nelly party in Phoenix, where Alexis was living at the time.

“He was wearing a Kansas City Chiefs Joe Montana jersey,” says Welch. “I’m originally from there, so we started talking about Montana when he played there. I’ve always liked guys who were taller than me when I wear heels.”

After leaving Arizona, the two kept their relationship going with home cooked meals and lots of fun.

Now they’re engaged and ready to jump the broom.

About the proposal, Alexis said it was super romantic, under the stars in France. It started off as a trip filled with cognac tasting and a visit to Paris, where they stayed at Le Meurice Hotel Belle Etoile and stopped in at a Kanye Jay-Z concert.

On the last night in Paris, she described the proposal:

“We went back [to the room], and there were rose petals leading to a balcony with a 365-degree view of Paris. We walked out to the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower.

“He had an acoustic-guitar player. He had a saxophonist. This is another side of Amar’e that people don’t get to see. I’m just getting teary-eyed talking about it.”

Shaunie O’Neal Says ‘Basketball Wives’ Film Will Be Nothing Like TV Show

basketball wives castShaunie O’Neal knows her name has been dragged through the dirt since her creation, “Basketball Wives,” has been mutilated by VH1.

So she’s hoping the film will redeem her vision and give fans a better perspective of what she was hoping to accomplish with the reality show.

“It’s a love story. It’s an empowering story. It’s funny. It’s life,” she told Vibe. “We’ve taken a girl who’s just going into the NBA life and experiencing things and showing the whole story. She learns from the organization. She learns from other wives, and by the end of the story, it’s empowering for women and men.”

Shaunie assured the film would be nothing like the show. Originally, the former basketball wife envisioned the series to be about independent women doing powerful things. But now it’s just a big soap opera with a sprinkle of Jerry Springer.

“It was important for me to have other outlets outside of ‘Basketball Wives’ to represent myself and who I really am and what I really would like to put out there. Because, again, I did reality TV and can’t control that. I can’t control how everybody acts and what everybody sees. This, I can control,” she said.

‘B’Ball Wives’: Jennifer Sues Nia for Assault and Battery (Video)

”Basketball Wives” star Jennifer Williams has filed a lawsuit against Nia Crooks, the woman who slapped her during a fight at the end of Monday’s episode.

TMZ first reported that Williams filed a police report following the January 21 altercation, in which she claims Crooks delivered an “open hand” slap to the left side of her face during a group outing to a race track in Florida.

The incident was caught on tape by the “Basketball Wives” crew and aired on Monday. Crooks said to Williams right before the attack, “Do I need to slap you in the face to wake you up?”

Williams replied, “I wish you would.” [Scroll down to watch.]

Williams has now followed up with a civil suit in New York, accusing Nia of assault and battery. In the docs, obtained by TMZ, Jennifer claims she suffered serious injuries in the attack as well as “mental shock, mental anguish and psychological trauma.”

Williams is demanding Nia pay for all of her medical expenses and other damages.

‘B’Ball Wives’ Star Tami Roman OK after Mild Heart Attack

“Basketball Wives” star Tami Roman says she is doing fine and looks forward to resuming her scheduled activities after suffering a mild heart attack earlier this week in Los Angeles.

The reality star was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday night for what her publicist called a “mild medical condition.” On Tuesday, Tami confirmed via twitter that it was indeed a heart attack.

She tweeted: “Thx 2every1 for the get well wishes. Never thought I’d have a mild heart attack at 41. God has a way of bringing things into perspective. Finally going home 2my kids-heart meds and all.” We are truly thankful that her condition is not worse and that she’s well enough to leave the hospital. We’re thinking of you, Tami!

Singer Tamia: ”Basketball Wives’ is Not Reality’

tamia*When you watch the show “Basketball Wives,” you wonder if every woman who is married to a ballplayer is as ratchet as some of these seem to be.

Lets go down the list: Tammy, Evelyn, and Gloria … all women who have exhibited “unlady like” behavior on the show on numerous occasions.

But then you remember that you can’t put all crabs in one bucket and there are wives of basketball players out there who don’t act this crazy.

While they may not be wives, Gabrielle Union, Savannah Brinson and Ray Allen’s wife are all class acts.

The one who may be the quietest, unassuming one is singer Tamia.

In a recent interview, she talks about her life as the basketball wife of Grant Hill.

Since you’re married to an athlete, what are your thoughts on the perception of the “Basketball Wives” franchise?
Tamia: Well, I think the perception is definitely not a reality. I think, to be fair, a lot of those women [on the show] aren’t wives. And I’m good friends with Shaunie. And as far as business is concerned, I applaud her, but I think that it’s definitely very misleading in terms of what our lives are about. I do have a lot of friends who are married to athletes, and a lot of these women are involved in charities, doing all kinds of things behind the scenes and are supportive wives, and — believe it or not — have supportive husbands who are really great guys. I think not only for the women, but I think it just paints a really bad picture about the men as well. I think for athletes in general, people are like, “Why would you want to marry an athlete?” And that goes back to what I was saying to you: what works in one person’s marriage, may not work in the next. So keep your eyes focused on yours! I guess it’s interesting TV, but it’s definitely not reality.

Tami Roman’s Season 4 Theme of ‘Basketball Wives’ is ‘Calm Tami’

tami romanThis season of “Basketball Wives: Miami” will be different for reality star Tami Roman.

She tells the media she’s learned to control herself more and keep herself from fighting so much.

“I have actually learned how to talk before launching,” Tami said with a laugh. “Before the left hand leaves my side, before the drink is thrown, before I potentially lunge over the table, I’ve learned to talk and try to get to the bottom of things.”

This time around, she’ll be the one attempting to keep the peace and shut her mouth. It’s a new Tami y’all.

She says she’s trying to force herself to grow up and be a mature adult. Calm is her new motto.

And to help her stick with her motto/plan, Meeka Claxton won’t be on the show this round.

“For me, life without Meeka is grand,” Tami said, noting that this really only applies to filming “Basketball Wives: Miami.”

And on top of all that, she’s not taking anyone’s side except her own. This season, she’ll sit on the side lines of the Evelyn vs. Jennifer feud, sipping a calm pina colada.

New Season of Realty TV Featuring Lozada and Wedding Planning

chad & evelynNow that Evelyn Lozada is getting ready to jump the broom with one of the most talked about NFL stars, Chad Ochocinco of the New England Patriots, it’s almost like she doesn’t quite belong on the infamous realty series, “Basketball Wives.”

But she remains since her ex-fiance was former NBA player Antoine Walker.

At any rate, this season is bound to be another one filled with drama, hopes dreams, and rigid tension.

Since Lozada is busy trying to actually be a wife, things may be different for her this time around, as she goes into planning mode, finalizing the details of her summer wedding.

In an interview with ESPN, the soon-to-be Mrs. Ochocinco explained that she’s doing most the planning, but her man may be interested in choosing the music. She also said being a football wife has its minor differences from what she’s used to.

“I don’t really think there’s much of a difference other than his season is way shorter than basketball. And they have curfews. And we can’t stay at the same hotels. Oh, and we’re freezing sitting outside!”

While her hubby-to-be is winning the bread on the field (although he didn’t play in the Super Bowl), she’ll be raking in the cash with her new book about being a basketball wife.

“It’s going to be released June 5; it’s a series of three books. The first book is called “The Inner Circle,” and it’s primarily based on my life, friends that have been in the limelight and have been married and engaged and girlfriend of players. It’s a lot of these stories in these books, but obviously with fictitious names. You would never know what situation was Evelyn’s situation. A lot of it is real, true stories.”

Video: Basketball Wives’ New Season Gets Scrappy, Scary and Screamy

evelyn lozada & jennifer williams

This season of “Basketball Wives” is going to be over the top with drama and of course lots and lots of fighting.

First of all, the tension between Jen and Evelyn gets worse and elevates to not one, but two fights, at the very least. The girls go at it every time they are in each other’s space. Could it be Jen’s sudden success or Evelyn’s new love? And just FYI, Jen gets slapped like a “b*tch” by Evelyn’s assistant Nia Crooks. WHAT!

Then, newcomers Kesha Nichols and Kenya Bell get the party turned up when personalities clash and gossip begins.

There’s a whole lot of screaming, yelling, “ho-s,” “b*tches,” “mf-s,” “fu-s,”  and, as we said, a whole lot of physical altercations.

But in the meantime, Royce Reed has her own thing going on and trying to dodge the drama as much as possible. The woman is pursuing a new career in acting. Whether or not she has much talent is up to the viewers.

The new season premieres Feb. 20 on VH1 at 8 p.m.
