In very sad news, Los Angeles Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss has passed away at the age of 79.

Last week, it was reported that Buss had been hospitalized for an extended period of time due to an undisclosed form of cancer. Unfortunately, today, the longtime Lakers owner passed away due to complications from the illness.

Buss purchased the Lakers in 1979 and went on to win 10 championships with the team, 5 of them being with star player Kobe Bryant. Over this past NBA All Star Weekend, Kobe commented on Dr. Buss’ condition and what the owner meant to him:

Yeah, (Buss) has been on my mind, that’s been on my mind for a while. I’m just trying to stay, gotta stay positive.

“He means everything to me. He took a chance on a 17-year-old kid coming out of Philadelphia when nobody really saw that potential. He believed in me the entire way.”

Condolences to his family and friends.

Kanye and Kim Spotted Kissing at Photo Shoot

Paps finally got their Kimye money shot this weekend.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were snapped kissing on the set of her photo shoot for Vogue Italia over the weekend in Los Angeles.

Kardashian, sporting a short ‘do like mom Kris Jenner, then went to work on the set.

On Saturday, the couple was spotted holding hands and laughing while seated courtside at the LA Lakers game.

Us Weekly is reporting that a source claims the couple has already been talking marriage.

Lamar Odom Involved in Car Crash En Route to Cousin’s Funeral

Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom was involved in car accident while on his way to his cousin’s funeral in New York, according to E! News.

Odom, the husband of Khloe Kardashian, was not driving the vehicle and wasn’t hurt, a Kardashian rep told E! News of the accident. He was riding in the backseat, but his wife wasn’t in the car at the time.

Odom’s driver apparently collided with a motorcyclist, who was seriously injured along with a teenage pedestrian. They are being treated for injuries at a Queens hospital.

Odom, who joined the Lakers in 2004 after playing for the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers, married his wife in 2009, with the ceremony featured on E! Entertainment’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” The couple also co-starred in spinoff show Khloe & Lamar, which debuted in April.

MediaTakeOut.com first reported the news of the accident.

Khole & Lamar a Hit With Viewers

Other than the fact that his team had its season curtailed before making it to the NBA Finals for a fourth consecutive time, it’s been a pretty good year for Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom. He and wife, Khole put out their own unisex fragrance.

Odom collected the NBA’s Sixth Man Award, given out annually to the best nonstarter in the league.

Odom’s clothing line, Rich Soil, is thriving in the fashion industry. And now, even more good news for the 6-foot-10 power forward. E!’s Khole & Lamar drew in 2.5 million viewers in the show’s finale, which stars the married couple.

The show, which features the baby sister of the Kardashian clan, follows Khole and her husband throughout the NBA season. In its first season, Khloe & Lamar, has ranked as the top original series in the women 18-34 demo on Sunday nights versus the cable networks.

The finale drew a 2.82 rating in the women 18-34 demographic, one of the highest ratings for the series. In the key adults 18-49 demo, Khloe & Lamar delivered a 1.61 rating (1.7 million) of the season. While big sisters Courtney and Kim take on New York with a splash, Khole and Lamar take an inside look into the married life of a high-profiled celebrity couple.

Cavaliers Beat Lakers: Avenge 55 Point Loss

The Lakers hit the All-Star break broken.

Looking nothing like two-time defending NBA champions, they dropped their third straight game, a stunning 104-99 loss Wednesday night to the Cleveland Cavaliers – the league’s worst team, which avenged a 55-point embarrassment against Los Angeles last month.

Ramon Sessions came off the bench and scored a season-high 32 points for the Cavs, who were beaten 112-57 by the Lakers on Jan. 11.

That loss was No. 11 in a league-record streak that eventually reached 26 before Cleveland ended it last week with an overtime win against L.A.’s less-heralded squad, the Clippers.

Report: Monica and NBA’s Shannon Brown Married Since November

The NBA is reportedly confirming that Los Angeles Lakers star Shannon Brown and R&B singer Monica have tied the knot.

The ceremony is said to have taken place in secret on Nov. 22 in Los Angeles, just one month following their engagement.  The couple started dating in June 2010 after Shannon played Monica’s romantic lead in the video for her song “Love All Over Me.”

The two are reportedly planning a public wedding to take place in June in Los Angeles, likely after the NBA Finals scheduled from June 2-16.

Rumors about a secret marriage began circulating after Monica went to the DMV in Georgia a while back to file for a legal name change.

Lakers Clarify Parameters for ‘Khloe and Lamar’

As previously reported, the official greenlight of E!’s “Khloe and Lamar” reality show was announced Wednesday with news that Lamar Odom would be shown as he travels with his Los Angeles Lakers team.

Apparently, that was news to the Lakers organization.

According to the Orange County Register, Lakers spokesman John Black said Wednesday the team and E! network have not fully discussed the parameters involving following Odom as the Lakers finish out this season. The reality show will only be given access to the locker rooms, practice and wherever other media is allowed, he said.

Anything else, such as meeting up with Odom on the road, is up to the player, Black said. The network will not be allowed on the team’s chartered plane.

Khloe Kardashian told E! News that she and Odom “felt blessed to have been given such an amazing opportunity. I know that it will only strengthen the bond we have and the love we share for each other and we’re so excited to share our lives with our fans,” she said.

Kim Kardashian, Gabriel Aubry ‘Have Been Dating a Few Weeks’

Despite Kris Jenner’s insistence this week that her daughter Kim Kardashian is “just friends” with Halle Berry’s ex Gabriel Aubry, UsMagazine.com is citing an unnamed “pal” who claims the two are indeed a couple.

Rumors of a romance started after the pair were photographed attending Sunday’s Los Angeles Lakers game.

“They met through friends and have been dating a few weeks,” the source tells Us Magazine. “It’s sexy!” Adds the insider, “They decided to step out together at the game.”

The Gucci model, 34, is not the first guy the reality star, 30, has been linked to since splitting with Reggie Bush in March. After a summertime romance with football hunk Miles Austin, Kardashian has been dating casually — including a few recent nights out in NYC with singer John Mayer.

Aubry, meanwhile, has been laying low since he and Berry, 43, ended their four-year relationship in late April, although he and the Oscar winner spent some time in Paris with daughter Nahla, 2, in August. Berry has since gotten cozy with her “Dark Tides” costar Olivier Martinez.

Monica and NBA’s Shannon Brown Engaged

Monica has an engagement ring on her finger from boo Shannon Brown of the LA Lakers and her stylist sent out some Twitpics of the rock as proof.

The singer, 29, met Brown, 24, this summer when he played her love interest in the video for her song “Love All Over Me.” [See video below.] And folks are already comparing their whirlwind romance with the warp speed marriage of Khloe Kardashian and Brown’s teammate Lamar Odom, who jumped the broom after only a month of dating.

“We realize people will have their opinions,” Monica Tweeted. “That’s the way of the world. But we know who we are.”

She acknowledged her “real supporters who are happy for me. I thank u, I love u, & I’m realistic enough about life”

Blogger Sandra Rose said she received a phone call from one of Monica’s family members who asked to remain anonymous. The family member had exclusive details about the engagement that she only shared with Sandrarose.com:

She said Shannon proposed to Monica last Tuesday in front of both sets of parents in a very intimate setting. The family member said Shannon wanted to break the big news to both sides of the family because “they wanted it to be private and intimate and amongst family because family is most important to them.”

She said the couple met in June, 2010, on the set Mo’s video shoot for “Love All Over Me”. She said they will continue the courtship with each other even though they are engaged. In other words, the wedding will not take place next week, or any time soon, until they are ready.

She said Monica is extremely happy and she’s telling friends that she has “never ever ever” been treated with such love and respect by a man, ever! She is stress free because her man doesn’t live in the nightclubs. Both Mo and Shannon have great relationships with their respective parents. According to the family member, the entire family will meet Shannon at Monica’s birthday bash in LA this coming weekend.

My source said, “Now that Shannon has taken the relationship to the next level, everyone will meet, the kids included.”

She said this relationship is “extremely serious” to him. They both have a mutual respect for one another.

The star has had her share of serious romantic tragedy: her childhood sweetheart committed suicide in front of her, and another beau, rapper C-Murder, is now in jail for a murder conviction.

She and longtime boyfriend Rodney “Rocko” Hill broke off their engagement several months ago. They have two sons together: Rodney, 5, and Romelo, nearly 2.

Gloria Govan Denies Abuse by Fiancé Matt Barnes

Gloria Govan of VH1′s “Basketball Wives” is coming to the defense of her NBA boyfriend Matt Barnes, who was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of domestic violence.

She also refers to the Los Angeles Lakers player as her “fiancé,” despite the fact that her scheduled August wedding was abruptly cancelled.

“Any accusation of domestic violence are false,” Govan said in a statement issued Thursday by the couple’s publicist Laura M. Wright. “My fiancé, Matt Barnes, has never physically abused me or my family.”

As previously reported, Sacramento County sheriff’s spokesman Tim Curran says deputies responded to a disconnected 911 call late Wednesday afternoon to the home that Barnes shares with Govan and found her with visible injuries. Curran says Barnes was arrested after deputies determined he was the primary aggressor.

The athlete, released after posting a $50,000 bond, is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 13.

Barnes also denied the accusations in a text to reporter Bryan May of Sacramento’s News 10, stating, “U know any domestic violence situation 9 outa 10 times the man gets arrested. That’s the case here I was the victim but still got arrested. No matter what I say people are gonna think what they want…“
